Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse falls right in the middle of our ranking, making it just average in terms of ease of use and results achieved.
This tanning mousse isn’t short on positive elements. It dries quickly, doesn’t leave behind any uncomfortable residue, and it produced a medium, natural-looking tan that developed after 24 hours.
On the flip side, however, there’s no color guard, so you have to be really diligent to avoid a streaky tan, and the self-tanner odor that emerges after the product develops is brutal. One of the strongest I’ve smelled, actually!
You should also be aware that the product doesn’t come with a tanning mitt, so make sure you have one on hand if you want any level of success with this product!
Finally, you have to apply Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse two days in a row to achieve anything darker than a medium glow, which is a total headache.
While this could be a good fit for some, there are definitely other products out there that can give you better color payoff with just a single use.
Look and Feel
Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse is a white mousse, so there’s no color guard.
This is a more lightweight product than most other tanning mousses I’ve tried. It was a lot more like a foam than a mousse.
Once I applied the product, it was very comfortable to wear! It wasn’t overly sticky, and you almost couldn’t tell you tanned at all once the product absorbed.
While the application for Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse is mostly easy, I’m really frustrated that the product doesn’t come with a tanning mitt! Plenty of new tanners wouldn’t have a mitt, and even experienced self-tanners replace their mitts often. This is a total oversight from the brand, in my opinion.
If you do have a mitt, however, the application is easy. I only needed about 2-3 pumps per body part. A little goes a long way with this product, which is nice!
The lack of color guard was challenging, though. Even after using self-tanners for years, it can be super easy to miss spots without a guide.
The dry time for Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse is really fast. Probably less than 5 minutes! After that, I was able to get dressed easily and go about my day.
There wasn’t any sticky residue after the product dried either. My skin felt almost normal once the tanning mousse absorbed.
Smell (Before Application)
Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse has a sweet coconut smell to it when you first apply. It’s really strong too, so that’s definitely something to be aware of before buying this product.
The odor does go away once the product dries down, however, so it’s temporary.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
Holy smokes—after about 6 hours of wear, a very strong self-tanner odor emerged. This is probably one of the strongest scents I’ve experienced with a tanning product.
This is definitely a con for this product!
The color I got from Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse was a medium, natural-looking tan. The color itself looked really nice and didn’t have any orange undertones.
The directions do say that if you want a darker tan, you can apply it again the next day, but that feels like a total pain to me, even if its mostly easy to apply!
I think this should be considered a medium tanning mousse since there are plenty of products that can give you a dark tan with just a single use.
My tan was also really uneven, with lots of missing streaks. This is probably due to the lack of color guard with this mousse.
How Long It Lasts
The tan I achieved with Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse faded after 2-3 days.
I was truthfully happy when it faded because my tan was pretty uneven and full of streaks since there wasn’t any color guard to guide me.
OK For Men?
Yes. Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse does have a pretty feminine scent to it when you first apply it, but that goes away after about 5 minutes.
Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Mousse is priced fairly when compared to other tanning mousses on the market.
It was just okay for me in terms of ease of use and results, however, so I’m not totally sure it’s worth the money.
