Overall, I did not expect to like a drug store self tanner made by Walmart.
But this one was better than most drug store self tanners I’ve tried.
If you can get past the smell and the messy application, Equate Self Tan Brozning Spray produces a very nice color.
The color is a medium to dark shade, and it looks like you just spent a day at the beach.
You can’t beat the cheap price tag either.
Just be careful while applying as it’s messy, also be ready to be overwhelmed with the smell of DHA.
As it fades, the color becomes a little splotchy, so make sure to exfoliate and moisturize to help get rid of that!
Look and Feel
Equate Self Tan Bronzing Spray comes out as an aerosol mist.
The mist has a pretty heavy flow and a dark guide in it.
I really liked the feel of the mist, it came out very even.
Every time I try a new spray or mist I always apply them in the shower.
I’ve learned they can get messy and it’s better to be safe then sorry.
This one is no different, it’s messy.
When you spray this one, a lot of product comes out, so a lot of it gets on the floor.
Since it has a dark guide, you want to make sure to apply this one in the shower or while standing on a towel (or else it could stain the ground!).
The mist comes out very even which I liked, just make sure to hold the can at a consistent distance from your body to prevent an uneven color.
There were a few areas I had to go back and blend with my hand just to ensure they didn’t come out darker than the rest of my body.
Equate Self Tan Bronzing Spray dried pretty quickly.
I was completely dry in 5-10 minutes (most sprays dry relatively fast).
Be careful not to touch anything while it’s drying, the dark guide may stain!
Smell (Before Application)
I didn’t like the smell of this one.
It smelled very strongly of DHA, ew.
After I applied it my whole bathroom stunk for a few hours.
I don’t really know how to describe the smell of this one, other than it smelled like self tanner.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The next morning, I still stunk.
I couldn’t wait to shower this self tanner off, because it smells so bad.
There’s nothing worse than waking up, smelling like DHA!
The color this one produced was my favorite thing about this self tanner.
I woke up and I was a nice medium to bronze shade tan.
I was actually surprised how tan I was.
The color is pretty natural (maybe a tad bit orange).
I had one area on my leg that turned out darker than the rest of my body because I sprayed it unevenly.
But overall, the color was very nice.
I liked how dark it was, I looked bronze and ready to hit the beach!
How Long It Lasts
This self tanner lasted about 3-4 days before it started to fade, I wish it would’ve lasted a tad bit longer.
As it faded it became a little splotchy on my legs and torso, I had to exfoliate to get rid of my lizard-looking skin.
OK For Men?
Yes, I think men will like this one.
The color produced is very nice!
Just be careful as the application is messy.
Oh, and plug your nose while applying it!
Equate Self Tan Bronzing Spray is only $1.19 per ounce, that’s very cheap!
The full bottle is $7.98 (also very cheap), but isn’t everything at Walmart?
