Kardashian Instant Sunless Mousse is an average self tanner, so I gave it 2.5 out of 5 stars.
I definitely think there are better instant tanners out there.
For starters, this one doesn’t smell good. It smells like DHA, which I wasn’t expecting because their sunless lotion smells way better.
It also takes a long time to dry… over 45 minutes! That’s almost the entire time I had the product on my body before washing it off.
The color I got was a light bronze color, and looked very nice. Now, it wasn’t as dark as I was expecting it to be after leaving the product on for two hours. The directions say I should have a medium to dark tan, which I didn’t. So that was a bit misleading, but nonetheless the color was very good for a light to medium tan.
The price is fine and so is how long the tan lasts.
So overall, I found this mousse to be very average so I gave it 2.5 out of 5 stars.
Look and Feel
This product is a fluffy mousse with a brown guide in it. The guide isn’t as dark as some out there, but you can see it a little as you’re blending into your skin.
Overall, this one was pretty easy to apply as long as you use a tanning mitt.
The guide blended in nicely to my skin and didn’t leave any streaks. And the color guide helped me see where I was applying it. If you don’t use a mitt, it will stain your palms though.
The mousse held its texture nicely so it didn’t drip all over or become runny.
Kardashian Instant Sunless Mousse dried in about 45 minutes. While it dried, I felt sticky and was scared to put my clothes on because I didn’t want the guide to stain them. This is a 1-hour mousse, so it took almost the full hour it’s on to dry, which was pretty annoying. I just had to stand around in my bathroom waiting for it to dry.
Smell (Before Application)
This mousse smells very strongly of DHA to me. This kinda surprised me because their sunless lotion smells SO good. This one doesn’t have the sweet almond oil and grape seed oil in it like the lotion does. I think that’s what made the lotion smell so good.
But anyways, it smells like DHA, with a hint of sweetness. I didn’t care for the smell.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
Throughout the two hours I had the self tanner on, the smell became worse and worse. I was overwhelmed by the DHA smell by the time I had to wash it off. The DHA mixed with the sweet smell was nauseating.
This is an instant tan, or in other words, you keep in on anywhere from 1-3 hours. The directions say 1 hour will give you a medium tan and 3 hours will give you a dark tan.
I left it on for 2 hours, and then I washed it off. When I washed it off, I saw the guide wash off in the shower, and when I was done I was immediately back to my pale self. But that’s normal with instant tans, so I knew not to panic.
By the next morning (about 8-10 hours later), my tan had developed into a light to medium tan. Now, it wasn’t anywhere near as dark as I was thinking it’d be, but it was a nice color. The color was a light brown bronze, and looked very natural.
So even though it wasn’t dark, this one produces a very nice, light color.
How Long It Lasts
My tan from Kardashian Instant Sunless Mousse lasted four days. I was pretty happy with this, as it didn’t fade too unevenly or streaky.
OK For Men?
No, I think there are better instant self tanners out there; this one was just average.
Kardashian Instant Sunless Mousse is $20 per bottle, and $3.33 per ounce, that’s a little less than your average self tanner.
